This selection of lithographic works from the last four years
reflect the highly stimulating and creative relationship between the artists
and the expertise of the Auckland Print Studio's master printmaker John Pusateri.
Artists include John McKaig, Gretchen Albrecht, Jason Greig, Tiffany Singh,
Ayanah Moor, Mark Braunias, Askew One.

The process of lithography was invented by Alois Senefelder in Bohemia in 1796.
Traditionally a drawing is made using oil based crayons or inks onto a large slab of prepared limestone.
Once drawn the stone is treated to change the porosity of the stone.
The print image is generated by rolling an oil based ink roller across the treated stone to transfer the ink
then printed through a high pressure scraper bar press to print the image onto paper.

Auckland Print Studio was founded in 2008 by American born printmaker John Pusateri
after undertaking his Masters degree at Elam School of Fine Arts.
APS is located at Unitec in Point Chevalier and specializes in the publishing of fine art lithographic prints.
APS is one of only a few print publishing facilities in New Zealand
but has carved out a reputation for producing exceptional quality lithographs
working with leading New Zealand print artists.
